History

Park Guitar Studio was established in 1994 by Frank Biffi and has gone through a couple of re-births since. Formerly The Body and Soul music Academy for 12 years, Frank has returned to his Park Orchards based teaching studio to develop a wonderful environment to learn, play and enjoy music.

Park guitar studio is nestled in amongst Melbourne’s most beautiful environments which only inspires students to have fun playing and learning about music through their chosen instrument, the guitar.

Frank is a graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts in Jazz improvisation having studied with some of Australia’s prominent musicians and educators.

He taught guitar for many years at various secondary schools including Aquinas College, the Steiner school Warranwood, Forest Hills secondary and Fountaingate Secondary College.

Frank has performed and arranged extensively for over twenty-five years playing and performing throughout Melbourne and Australia.

Belief

Frank has a teaching style that incorporates the belief that not only is music a wonderful craft deserving of respect and dedication but equally appreciates great music comes from a place of love, joy, support and nurturing. Frank co-actively incorporates all these elements into his teaching.

To have any longevity as a music student and musician, it must be enjoyable in an environment where all students are treated as unique and nurtured.

THE ART OF TRANSCRIBING MUSIC

Transcribing music is the skill of documenting or writing down music from a source whether a CD player, ipod, tape, record or other.

PROFESSIONAL TRANSCRIPTIONS AND MUSICAL ANALYSIS

Since as a 10 year old sitting by his tape player laboriously trying to listen to his favourite songs and learn how to play them, Frank has been transcribing and analysing music for 25 years.

Whatever music you love and would like to play, Frank has the experience and ability to professionally transcribe music, write it on paper, analyse and instruct his students how to play it.

AURAL SKILLS

And as a result, Frank understands the importance of developing student’s aural skills, to be able to independently listen to a piece of music by ear and work out what’s been played. This is an aural skill acquired over time.

In addition to developing students’ aural skills, Frank also believes in the power of knowledge and that just as having the ability to listen to a piece of music and play it is an asset, so too is the ability to read music which Frank also encourages along with theory of music.
